CTRM Laboratory Application - LIS
The laboratory will generate the highest numbers of diagnostic tests and thus, critical test results and significant findings. As such, RADAR has been designed to excel in this application, not only in the case of emergent critical values, but perhaps in a more overlooked area, in the case of significant, but not emergent test results.
The RADAR laboratory application is designed to:
- Allow the lab tech or physician the ability to quickly and easily create an alert
- Prioritize the alert (by color) in accordance with the user institution’s rules-based policies
- Add a quick alert note, if desired
- Include the critical value
- Automatically send an alert email to designated recipient(s), with the priority of the alert
- Assist in managing the alert communication according to the rules established:
- Whom to contact from the primary all the way to the failsafe contact, if necessary
- How each recipient is to be contacted with alternative methods if not reached
- Tracks completion of communication with escalating reminders as time lapses
- Requires obtaining read-back (when required) to close alerts
- Document every attempted and/or completed communication in a timeline of the alert
- Permanently store closed alert timelines in database to produce an audit trail
- Automatically generate performance measurement reports for quality and risk management as well as Joint Commission and College of American Pathologists compliance
- Provide authorized clinicians, administrators, and managers access to the complete database of open and closed alerts 24/7
- Reduce staff time in identifying recipients and successfully communicating with them or their designees
