System Requirements

RADAR Database Server

Microsoft SQL Server Version 2000 Standard and Enterprise Editions and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Standard and Enterprise Editions will be the supported database engines for the RADAR System. The most recent service packs are required for each SQL Server installation.

Operating System Microsoft Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack (SP) 4 or later; Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition, Enterprise Edition, or Datacenter Edition with SP 1 or later; Windows Small Business Server 2003 with SP 1 or later
Memory 2 gigabytes of RAM or more; 4 gigabyte (GB) or more recommended with Windows AWE Memory Active
Network 100 MB Network Interface Card required. 1 GB Network Card suggested.
Hard Disk 450 MB for SQL Server Installation. 50 GB drive for RADAR Data in SQL Server. Other drives will be necessary for database backups.
  • As the system matures and use patterns are discovered it will be necessary to re-evaluate the Database Server requirements for individual installations.
  • The RADAR Database Server does not necessarily need to be installed on a dedicated Server. This database can co-exist with other database applications, but performance considerations must be considered with this type of installation.

RADAR Windows Service Server

The RADAR Windows Service Server will contain the RADAR HL7 Services installation and the RADAR Alert Service. It is recommended to follow the requirements below and Microsoft’s recommendation for Server installations (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/evaluation/sysreqs/default.mspx).

Computer and processor 133-MHz or faster processor for x86-based PCs; 733-MHz for Itanium-based PCs; up to eight processors supported on either the 32-bit or the 64-bit version
Memory 128 MB of RAM minimum required; maximum: 32 GB for x86-based PCs with the 32-bit version and 64 GB for Itanium-based PCs with the 64-bit version
Hard disk 1.5 GB of available hard-disk space for x86-based PCs; 2 GB for Itanium-based PCs; additional space is required if installing over a network

Depending on the projected load/use of the RADAR system the RADAR Windows Services may be installed on the RADAR Database Server along with the RADAR Database. It is recommended that performance be monitored to ensure the load is appropriate for the server configurations.

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 is required for RADAR Windows Services

RADAR Alerts Workstation

The RADAR Alerts Workstation has been certified to run with any Windows Operating System that has been tested with Microsoft .NET 2.0 Framework.
